Suavanao Airfield Upgrading Tender Evaluation Underway
The Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA), through the Second Solomon Islands Roads and Aviation Project (SIRAP2), with support from the World Bank, is progressing the procurement process for the Suavanao Airfield upgrading works in Isabel Province.
The tender closed at 10:00 am on 19 August 2026, with the technical proposals opened at 11:00 am the same day.
The technical evaluation is currently underway to assess the submitted bids against the requirements and criteria set out in the tender documents. Once the technical evaluation is completed, the financial evaluation will follow in accordance with the applicable World Bank procurement procedures.
MCA Permanent Secretary Alwyn Danitofea said the tender evaluation process is an important step towards advancing the Suavanao Airfield upgrading works.
“We are pleased to see the procurement process progressing as planned. It is important that the evaluation is completed in accordance with the required procurement procedures to ensure that the most qualified contractor is selected.”
He affirmed that the Ministry remains committed to delivering the Suavanao Airfield upgrading in a transparent and accountable manner, with the support of the World Bank through SIRAP2.
“Our priority is to ensure that the infrastructure delivers its intended benefits to the people of Suavanao and surrounding communities in Isabel Province. We will continue to work closely with the project team and our development partners to deliver the project to the required standards.”
Following completion of the technical and financial evaluations, the successful contractor will be identified, and the contract award process will proceed, subject to the required approvals.
